Lesson Learned

I need to apologize.

Sharing the Vitamin C information took me into territory I was not fully prepared to tread. Health and medical information is vital in our journey toward rhythms of rest, but I’m not sure this is the mission of run hard. rest well. Veering into this “new” territory might get us off track. Might. Maybe. Don’t know. I need to ponder this through carefully and prayerfully.

What I’ve Learned

May 23rd marked the one year anniversary of medical chaos for our family. Since that time, I’ve spent 91 nights in the hospital with our children. This year has taken us to new lows and new heights. The medical mayhem is far from over.

Although rhythms of rest are always a priority for me, my health has not been. I have not been well. Not terrible – functioning quite well with various accommodations, but still not well. I know stress creates havoc for the human body, so I chalked up my declining health to stress. Fair assessment, but I recently learned that there was more to it than that. My thyroid is now getting the attention it deserves. #1 learning: Don’t be satisfied with poor health. Pursue. Persist. Don’t let denial get the final word. Be patient with the process, but don’t neglect.

Vitamin C

In my exuberance of feeling better, I got a little trigger happy. I did find Vitamin C helped (and helped quite a bit) when the effect of cortisol was having a heyday in my body, but it was inappropriate for me to share this without thorough, in-depth research. I think a 1,000 mg of Vitamin C will be a tool I occasionally use, but I am not planning on using it on a daily basis. Kind notes sent my way alerted me to a potential increase of kidney stone formation in people taking high levels of Vitamin C (a rare occurrence), as well as the potential of diarrhea.

Lessons learned.

Health improving.

Packing vacation bags today.

Medical situations are stable enough to allow for departure.

I’m on my knees.

Thankfulness overflows.

  • The site is under construction for a few weeks to compile the e-book, re-vamp the site and prepare to launch out into a broader spectrum of people. During this time I am going to send out shorter posts and some links to articles I’ve written. Hope they are a blessing.

  1. Thank you for this. I was ready to run with it. I’ll hold back until I talk to my doc. Too many complicated issues with my health to risk potential further harm.
