Why I Farm

Near the top of Josh’s “Go Make A Difference” list is adoption and orphan care. Josh’s love for farming is giving him an opportunity to raise money through a “Why I Farm” photo contest sponsored by Beck’s Hybrid Seeds. If Josh comes in the top three winners, the award money will go exclusively to orphans in need. (We’ve worked it all out with Beck’s and a local farmer.)  The after-tax award money would be between $5,000 and $16,000.

Most of the photo contestants have had almost a year to collect votes by the March 3rd deadline. Josh just signed up. He needs about 1,500 votes a day to make this dream come true.  So many are helping!  Once the simple account is set up, it only takes 20 seconds of your time to vote.  But, some are having trouble.  Here’s a few things to help trouble shoot.

1. If you’ve been having trouble with one device, try to switch to another…your i-phone or another computer.

2. Try these directions once your at the website. www.whyifarm.com

3.  At each step, you often have to go back up to the top right-hand corner and click on the tab that says “Vote or Share a Story.”

4. You will need to create an account.  All you have to do is provide your email address.  They will not pass it on.  (trusted, high quality company).  An activation link will be sent to your email.  To do this:

a) click on the “Vote” tab in the upper right hand side.
b) In the next screen, you should see Josh’s photo. Click on it.
c) A full photo of Josh will fill the screen.  Click under the thumb where it says, in tiny print, “log-in or sign up to vote.”  Follow the directions.

5. Once your account is set up.

a) click on “Vote” tab in the upper right side.
b) In the next screen, you should see Josh’s photo. Click on it.
c) A full photo of Josh will fill the screen. Click under the thumb where it says, in tiny print, “log-in or sign up to vote.”
d) log in e) hit the vote box when Josh’s photo pops up again.

Thanks!
(If it’s to be, it will be.  I won’t bug you anymore, but we have only have 35 days to make this happen.  The “award” money is in seed, but we have that all figured out between the company and a farmer.  It’s all a go!  The company even wants to send someone out to meet Josh.  They are very taken by his story!  Award money (of $5,000 to $16,000) will go to Jing’s adoption cost and/or the Mexican orphanage.  What a joy if this could happen!)

First time here?

    • Becky,
Thank you!! When it comes to tech things I have this wonderful team that helps make things happen. I need all the help I can get. I think of you and pray for you as you take care of those 2 precious babies. The are little miracles! We are asking God for big things!

  2. Brenda,

I’ve been following Josh’s journey. He’s had some wonderful media coverage! He’s a brave young man and an example to all.

P.S. I’m looking forward to spending time at Camp Lutherhaven in a couple of weeks as I attend my first Discipleship Walk with The Chapel.

    • Deb — those are powerful weekends. It is always a joy to be praying for an outpouring of the Spirit for those on retreat. Josh blesses us. He’s slowing down. He’s had a rough few weeks, a few better days, but today is a harder day. Learning to take each day — one at a time — full tilt, but held loosely, is a daily prayer from the center of my soul.
      God bless and keep,
      Brenda
